It is easy to be overwhelmed by the amount of information on the internet claiming to be the best way to burn calories. Some claim to melt the fat away; others state that you can lose all of the weight you want without getting off the couch, as long as you buy their product. In truth, plain, old-fashioned exercise is the best way to burn calories, but, even then, you have to watch your diet.
Easy Exercises To Burn Calories
- Take a walk. There are various reasons that you may not be able to jog, so a walk is a great place to start. Jog if at all possible, walk no matter what.
- Lift weights. Understandably, you may be limited to 5 or 10 lbs in the beginning, but that is fine. Muscle tissue burns more calories than fat tissue. More than double, actually. You could even wear small 1 or 2 lb weights at your wrists and ankles while you walk.
- Isometric exercises. All you have to do is tighten a muscle, hold for ten seconds, and then relax. Repeat as often as you like. You can do this anywhere. They increase blood flow as well as improve muscle tone.
Diet Changes
- Drink a lot of fluids. Not just anything, but 64 ounces of water each day. If 8 glasses of water do not sound reasonable to you, then drink 4 of water and 4 of green tea. Tea is full of antioxidants that increase metabolism and burn calories.
- Never skip breakfast. That hungry feeling that hits a few hours later will cause you to consume more calories than if you had not skipped a meal.
- Eat more often. Sound a little fishy? Frequent meals tend to be smaller because you do not feel extremely hungry. You will not overeat, but, you may consume fewer calories. Since your body uses calories to digest food, you will be burning calories as well.
The best way to burn calories is to exercise. Moderate levels of exercise increase muscle mass and metabolism. Both continue to burn calories after a workout or walk. Exercise is good, but you will burn more calories and control your weight more easily if you combine exercise and dietary changes. So, if you want an overall approach, the best way to burn calories is to combine diet and moderate exercise.
