The signs of sugar addiction are not typically easy to recognize, at least they weren’t to easy for me at first. Many people never realize they are addicted to sweets, until someone else notices. However, before you can understand how to stop sugar cravings, you really need to first understand sugar addiction. The first thing to do is to see if you exhibit any of the normal signs of sugar addiction.

A Few Distinct Signs Of Sugar Addiction

  1. Feeling extremely hyper or tired after eating sugary or enriched grains – caused by the change in blood sugar.
  2. Inability to go more than 24 hours without craving something sweet. This is an easy way to tell. Try it and see just 24 hours don’t eat any sweets of any kind. Might find it a little harder than you’re probably thinking.
  3. Irritability when having too much or not enough sugar – caused by changes in your blood sugar.
  4. Symptoms associated with diabetes (increased thirst, increased urination, yeast infections, etc.); however after talking to a doctor and being tested you’re not diabetic.
  5. Irregular eating habits, can’t sleep without eating something, waking-up really early in the morning and making a big meal.
  6. Cakes, cookies, etc. irresistible even when not hungry. People sometimes believe there hungry when there really not.
  7. Sugar and Enriched grains start to make up more than half of your day’s meals.
  8. Drinking whole liters of soda a day.
  9. Increasing weight gain or inability to lose weight.
  10. Other people noticing your sugar cravings, a lot of times other people will notice things before you do.
  11. Spending 15% or more of your grocery budget on sweet foods, remember things that you think have no sugar might have a lot of sugar.

These are only some of the signs of sugar addiction, but for most people these are the signs they maybe exhibiting.
